GROUP OF THIRTY
International Insolvencies in the Financial Sector

A STUDY GROUP REPORT
For the last two years, the Group of Thirty, in co-operation with INSOL International has been examining the issues that could arise in the cross-border insolvency of a financial institution.

This report contains the full sequence of work the Group of Thirty persue on the international issue of insolvency.

The Asian financial crisis has demonstrated the danger of weak national insolvency laws. This report recommends actions by the public and private sectors to address problems that would arise if a major insolvency in the financial sector were to spill across borders.
