Samantha specialises in restructuring and insolvency, debt acquisition, financial services regulatory investigations and other disputes and general commercial dispute resolution.
Samantha has acted for various stakeholders in relation to numerous high-profile restructurings and insolvencies. This work includes various members’ and creditors’ schemes of arrangement including the NAB demerger with its UK banks.
Recent engagements include:
• acting for the secured lenders to Caledon Coal;
• acting for the receivers and lenders to Coomboona Dairies;
• acting for prospective financiers of Channel 10;
• acting for the administrators of McAleese; and
• acting for the receivers and secured lenders to IHC and the liquidators of the Penrice Group.
She is also experienced at advising in relation to matters of conduct and reputational risk in the context of parliamentary enquiries and regulatory investigations.
This year, Samantha has played an active role in being a voice for KWM on Australia’s Corporate Insolvency Reform. Along with fellow partners Samantha started a dialogue with the industry on this significant piece of legislation and what the implications of these laws may mean for business. In the lead up to and following the Turnbull Government’s proposed insolvency laws, she co-led an integrated campaign approach off the back of the firm’s submission, of which she was a co-author.
Samantha was recognised in Best Lawyers - Insolvency and Reorganisation Law in 2015 and 2016 and also in Best Lawyers – Commercial Litigation in 2016.
Samantha was a finalist in Euromoney Asia Women in Business Law Awards – Best in Restructuring and Insolvency 2017.
