Mr. Rein Philips
Rein Philips is specialised in corporate and bankruptcy law, and both advises and litigates on a variety of matters in this area. He advises and represents multinational corporations, investors, banks and other stakeholders in formal and informal restructurings, insolvency matters and related disputes. Recent work includes: • acting as lead counsel to a Dutch debtor company listed on the London Stock Exchange and Warsaw Stock Exchange on the restructuring of certain bond series with a par value of approximately EUR 200 million through a formal insolvency process; • advising the former majority shareholders of Yukos Oil Company OAO on the Dutch aspects of the legal battles surrounding the demise of Yukos; • acting as lead counsel to a Dutch bank in the cross-border recovery of claims against US debtors involving the use of Chapter 15 proceedings; • advising the junior lenders on the Dutch law aspects of the restructuring of a large Spanish diversified manufacturer.
