Jan has been a lawyer since 2005 and Counsel at DLA Piper Munich since September 2011. Jan is a member of the practice group Litigation & Arbitration. He specialises on complex domestic and international litigation and arbitration and advises national and international clients in particular on insolvency related matters. Jan studied law at the universities of Würzburg, Lund (Sweden) and Munich and worked a research assistant at the chair for criminal law, law of criminal procedure and legal informatics (Prof. Dr. Sieber) at the university of Munich. He obtained a doctorate on a corporate law issue at the university of Würzburg in 2008. Jan is co-editor of a handbook for German limited liability companies and regularly publishes articles on corporate and insolvency issues. He is a member of the association of young insolvency administrators. He speaks German and English fluently. Examples of work: - Advising an international clearing house against possible avoidance claims of the insolvency administrator of the German subsidiary of an international financial institution. - Representing a leading Asian high-tech company in several state court proceedings against an insolvency administrator in connection with the insolvency of a subsidiary. - Representing a leading Asian high-tech company in an ICC-arbitration regarding a post M&A-dispute in connection with the acquisition of a business unit of Siemens. - Representing a German energy start-up in proceedings against a major energy firm in connection with insolvency related questions. - Representing a leading company in the field of plastics machinery in a DIS-Arbitration regarding reps and warranties claims after the sale of an affiliated company. - Representing two leading media companies in an ad-hoc arbitration regarding a dispute on the validity of a put-option against the insolvency administrator of the contracting company. - Representing insolvency administrators in proceedings regarding avoidance claims and collection of claims for the estate.
