Kusamotu, Ayodele Musibau obtained his LL.B. (Hons.) in 1997 from the Universityof Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1998. He cut his teeth in Legal practice with Clarke, Parko & Associates. Thereafter, he worked with the prestigious law firm of Abdulai Taiwo & Co., (Solicitors) in Nigeria where he became a partner before leaving to set up his own practice. Ayo Kusamotu is a consummate professional with an exceptional eye for detail. He is a fellow of the University of Massachusetts’ National Centre for Information Technology and Dispute Resolution; a Director at the Internetbar.org and an adviser to Nicholas Negroponte’s One Laptop Per Child Association Inc. He is also pioneering the Online Dispute Resolution field in Nigeria in finding ways of solving online disputes outside the court room. In 2001, he pioneered a boutique law firm, Kusamotu & Kusamotu whose hallmark is “thinking out of the box” and exploring uncharted areas of law. Kusamotu & Kusamotu represents both local and multinational companies in Nigeria. The Firm is registered as a Consultant to practice in the Capital Market by the Securities and Exchange Commission [SEC]. Ayo heads the Foreign Investment Practice and is the firm’s leading specialist in trade with China. He is also on the frontlines in developing the firm’s burgeoning Insolvency and Restructuring practice as he is currently leading a team of lawyers providing advisory services to Chinese Companies with business interests in Nigeria on cross-border insolvency. He appears in all courts in Nigeria. He contributes to opinion columns in local newspapers and has written several articles in international journals and books, some of which are the ABA Guide to International Business Negotiations (3rd ed.) and Information Communications Technology Law (Routledge Taylor & Francis Group). He is also a speaker at conferences.
