INSOL International's Bursary and Awards Policy

INSOL International is committed to supporting its members by providing access to high quality educational programmes and events. As part of this commitment, we continue to support greater diversity and inclusion across the restructuring and insolvency profession through the INSOL International Bursary and Awards Scheme.

We aspire to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, age, socio-economic background or other form of diversity.

Purpose of the Bursary Scheme

The purpose of the scheme is to help remove potential barriers to participation in INSOL International’s educational programmes and events. In doing so, the scheme supports members in developing their professional skill sets and expanding their professional networks.

Application Review Process

All applications submitted will be reviewed by the INSOL International Bursary and Awards Review Panel, apart from the GIPC bursary which will be awarded by the GIPC Core Committee.

All decisions of the Bursary and Awards Review Panel will be final. Selection process

INSOL International understands that diversity comes in many forms and will be interpreted in the widest sense possible. Different criteria may apply to individual courses and events, and these are made clear for each individual course.

The selection process does not seek to make any judgements about the relative worth of different types of diversity. Each application will be considered on its own merits to ensure a wide-ranging representation of the diverse community working in the restructuring and insolvency profession.

In awarding a bursary the Bursary Review Panel may base its decision on several factors, including:

  • The quality of the application;
  • Whether or not an applicant has received an INSOL International bursary in recent years. Preference may be given to those who have not benefited from a bursary in the past; and
  • Proven or potential contribution to and / or participation in INSOL International’s activities.

The Bursary Review Panel will meet shortly after the deadline for applications on the various courses and events, and applicants will be advised soon afterwards about the outcome of their application. To safeguard applicant privacy, Bursary Review Panel members sign confidentiality agreements and applications are assessed anonymously wherever practicable.

Successful applicants will be notified in writing and will receive instructions on how to enrol. Successful applicants will be asked to confirm that they are able to take up the bursary that has been offered.

Please note that it will not be possible to transfer the bursary to a colleague, should the successful applicant not be able to take up the bursary. In such circumstances INSOL International retains the right to offer the bursary to another applicant.
