Bio

Nicholas Fox is a partner in Mourant's Cayman Islands office. He has extensive experience in insolvency and restructuring, financial services litigation, fraud and asset tracing and regulatory matters.

After studying law at Oxford University, Nicholas practised as a barrister in London before moving offshore in 2008. He is admitted with full higher court rights in both the Cayman Islands and BVI and regularly appears in Court against other senior advocates, including London QCs. He has spent the last decade working on some of the most complex and most high-profile insolvencies and related-disputes in the Caribbean, virtually all of which have a significant cross-border element.

His recent experience includes advising the liquidators of the Madoff-affected Kingate Funds, which suffered losses of over US$1bn and have been involved in extensive cross-border litigation in the US and Bermuda with the BLMIS Trustee, their former investment adviser and other organizations. In addition, he has worked on cases including: acting for the Plaintiffs in the Algosaibi v Saad fraud claim seeking to trace assets worth over US$4 billion through a complex group of companies in liquidation and financial products (this involved both the longest trial and appeal ever to take place in the Cayman Islands); and acting for the liquidators of the Primeo Fund in another very complex, multi-faceted cross-border liquidation.

Nicholas is a Fellow of INSOL.
